I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents. Message from Our Director

The definition of chronic pain refers to pain that persists for more than three months, regardless of its cause—be it trauma, surgery, muscle strain, or joint degeneration.

Unlike acute pain, chronic pain is characterized by its long duration, fluctuating intensity, and poor response to single-treatment approaches. Its unpredictable nature often leads to the internalization of pain within the brain, forming lasting pain memories. This can result in emotional distress, depression, and a range of psychological and physiological challenges, making the management of chronic pain both complex and demanding.

In clinical consensus, a multidisciplinary approach to chronic pain management not only provides patients with diverse and comprehensive medical resources but also helps establish a correct understanding of their condition. It enables patients to set realistic and achievable treatment goals, enhance their self-care skills, and develop strategies to manage their pain effectively. Ultimately, this approach empowers patients to coexist harmoniously with chronic pain.

At the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Library, our mission is to contribute to this important area of healthcare by providing a centralized platform for ultrasound-based pain management education. We aim to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice by offering a rich archive of ultrasound images and case studies, as well as evidence-based research and insights from leading clinicians.

Our goal is to equip healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge to better diagnose and treat pain-related conditions. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire collaboration, innovation, and improved care for patients living with chronic pain.

Thank you for joining us on this journey to advance education and improve the quality of care for those who need it most. Together, we can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Prof. Regina Wing-Shan SIT
