A 65 year-old lady (housewife) complained of right side posterior ankle pain for 6 months. Pain was worse when she walked. Physical examination showed tenderness and swelling over the Achilles tendon. There was also pain with single-leg heel raise test.
Ultrasound examination showed grossly swollen and hypoechoic Achilles tendon with calcification over the distal part of tendon. There was increase in vascularity, suggestive of Achilles tendinitis. No tear is noted.
